Principal's Message
July 26, 2024
Dear Proud Panthers,
Welcome to the 2024-2025 school year at Gardena High School.
Our first day of school is Friday, August 9, 2024.
We are excited to continue improving teaching and learning and student support to meet our goals:
Attendance,
Graduation A-G 'C' or Better, and
Proficiency for All.
We are committed to the LAUSD Core Beliefs and will approach our goals by:
Our high expectations for teaching and learning will infuse socio-emotional learning into the curriculum and hold students accountable for their actions through restorative justice. We will reflect and change our practice if a student is not making standards progress, and help build our students 21st Century “super skills” by incorporating effective instructional practices:
Discussion techniques and student participation to ensure all students share their thinking,
standards-based activities to engage students,
and feedback that will move student learning forward.
Our Panther PRIDE will be intentional and focused on the right conditions and support, honoring individual variation in learning styles, meeting the students where they are to accelerate achievement, and communicating learning intention, relevance, and success:
What am I learning today?
Why am I learning it?
How will I know that I have learned it?
Our academy and Magnet School pathways will continue to link learning to college and career, prepare all students to be adaptable, effective communicators, self-advocates, and open-minded and ethical.
We look forward to partnering with YOU to continue "Breaking Ground for the Future."
